Jaxon Smith-Njigba Got the Wrong NFL Trophy and His Reaction Says Everything

Jaxon Smith-Njigba just had one of the most awkward trophy moments in NFL history. The Seattle Seahawks wide receiver won NFL Offensive Player of the Year after a record-breaking 2024 season, pulling in 119 receptions for 1,793 receiving yards, both franchise records. But when his award arrived, the engraving read “Defensive Player of the Year.”

The guy made three tackles all season.

Smith-Njigba’s response was exactly what you would expect from someone who just got handed the wrong hardware. He basically told them to keep it, which tracks for a receiver who spent the year torching secondaries, not playing in one.

The Seahawks star has cemented himself as one of the most electric pass catchers in the league right now, and his stats back that up completely. Getting a defensive award as the reward for that kind of season is honestly a little poetic.

Somebody in the engraving department is having a rough week.
