Kirk Cousins is running the Las Vegas Raiders offense right now, and offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak is fully buying in.
Despite the Raiders drafting Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick last month, Cousins is currently the expected starter heading into the 2025 season. With OTAs kicking off this week, Kubiak spoke to reporters Wednesday and made his confidence clear, calling Cousins a professional and a leader the team is counting on as they install the offense.
Kubiak described watching Cousins compete during live periods, saying the veteran’s fire and command were exactly what he wants to see from his quarterback. No official starter has been named yet, but Kubiak said the tape from OTAs, minicamp, and training camp will make that decision for everyone.
Cousins comes to Las Vegas after a tough 2024 season in Atlanta, throwing for 1,721 yards with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions.
The competition is real, but right now the job is Cousins to lose.
