PlayStation Plus Price Hike Hits All Tiers and PS5 Fans Are Furious

Sony pulled a quiet one. After announcing PlayStation Plus price increases for new customers starting May 20, many assumed only the Essential tier was affected. Turns out all three tiers got more expensive.

Here is the full breakdown. The one-month Essential plan jumps from $9.99 to $10.99, Extra goes from $14.99 to $16.99, and Premium climbs from $17.99 to $19.99. Three-month plans also took hits across the board. Current subscribers are protected unless their plan lapses, except in Turkey and India. The annual subscription stays unchanged, which feels like a nudge toward locking in longer.

The backlash is real. Sony already raised PS5 console prices in March, and with GTA 6 dropping in November and a flood of new PS5 buyers incoming, fans feel squeezed from every angle. No PlayStation 6 release date or pricing has been confirmed either.

Sony is cashing in before the GTA 6 wave, and players are stuck paying for it.
