Shedeur Sanders Is Winning Over the Browns and Todd Monken Has Thoughts

Shedeur Sanders is putting in the work, and his new head coach is noticing. Cleveland Browns coach Todd Monken says Sanders has improved dramatically since his rookie season, praising his ability to read defenses, process progressions, and get the ball out faster.

That matters because Sanders is locked in a starting quarterback battle with Deshaun Watson heading into 2025. Sanders already made the Pro Bowl last year despite starting just seven games and posting seven touchdowns against 10 interceptions. Now he is the only Browns quarterback who showed up at the team facility during the offseason.

At OTA practice this week, Sanders and Watson split first-team reps, while Dillon Gabriel and rookie Taylen Green worked with the second and third units. Monken wants the starting job settled before training camp, but confirmed the Browns will have their Week 1 starter locked in for the Jacksonville opener.

Sanders is not just competing. He is leading.
