Queen Maeve is missing from The Boys series finale, and now we know exactly why. Showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed that Dominique McElligott turned down a cameo offer for The Boys Season 5, not because of drama, but because she has mostly retired from acting.
Kripke reached out early in production to ask if McElligott would return for even a single day of filming. She politely declined, saying she was out of the industry and unavailable on the proposed dates. Kripke described the whole exchange as completely friendly and respectful.
Queen Maeve was last seen in The Boys Season 3 finale, stripped of her powers after the Soldier Boy storyline. Her fate was left open, but she never returned for the final season.
The creative team still honored her legacy through recap footage, framing Maeve as the original link in a chain of powerful women running through Annie and now Marie.
The Boys universe continues with spinoff prequel Vought Rising, set in the 1950s.
