The ANBERNIC RG Vita Pro launched without Google Play Store, and nobody noticed until now. The PS Vita inspired handheld is finally getting the fix it needed, with ANBERNIC pushing a new Android update that adds Play Store support to the dual-OS device.
The RG Vita Pro runs both Linux and Android, making it one of the more versatile retro handheld consoles on the market. But shipping without Google Play was a pretty glaring gap for an Android device in 2025.
ANBERNIC revealed the update through a YouTube video, confirming Play Store access alongside a round of bug fixes for the Android side of the handheld. The Linux OS was not mentioned as part of this update.
For retro gaming handheld fans who grabbed the RG Vita Pro early, this update finally makes the Android experience feel complete. Better late than never, but this really should have shipped day one.
