Apple is shooting an entire professional live sports broadcast on the iPhone 17 Pro, and it is happening this Saturday. The LA Galaxy vs Houston Dynamo FC MLS match on May 23 at 7:30 p.m. PT will be the first major pro sporting event captured exclusively on an iPhone, no studio cameras involved.
Apple TV cameras will cover warmups, player intros, in-net goal angles, and full stadium atmosphere, with the iPhone 17 Pro’s small form factor unlocking angles traditional broadcast rigs simply cannot reach.
This is not the first time the iPhone 17 Pro touched sports history. Apple previously used it to film select moments during a Red Sox vs Tigers MLB game, and one of those devices now sits permanently in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
Starting in 2026, MLS Season Pass becomes free with any Apple TV subscription.
History does not repeat itself, it just films itself on an iPhone.
