Billy Corgan is ready to take Smashing Pumpkins to the Sphere in Las Vegas, and he already knows exactly what the show would look like. The frontman says the band would “absolutely” perform there, calling it a no-doubter, with only one catch: nobody has actually asked them yet.
Corgan’s vision centers on Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, the iconic 1995 double album that cemented the band’s legacy in alt-rock history. The Sphere’s massive immersive screen setup makes it a natural fit for a full production built around that record’s massive visual and emotional scope.
Other artists like U2 and Dead and Company have already used the Las Vegas Sphere to stunning effect, so the demand for a Smashing Pumpkins residency there would be enormous among 90s rock fans.
The invitation just needs to come.
