Here’s the thing people forget when they panic about new characters: every single Marvel icon was once a nobody. Wolverine showed up in *The Incredible Hulk* #181. Blade got his first panel in *Tomb of Dracula* #10. The entire modern international X-Men roster , Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus, the whole crew , was a swing that easily could’ve been written off as too weird, too risky, too different. The MCU stumbled hard trying to introduce too many new faces too fast without giving audiences a reason to care. Comics can nurture a character across years of issues. A post-credits scene doesn’t do that.
But the fact that Marvel is leaning into new blood right now, rather than just spinning up another Spider-Man variant or Avengers reassembly, is actually kind of encouraging. It suggests someone in a room somewhere made a decision that the next era needs a foundation, not just a familiar face.
