Samsung is not done reinventing the smartphone. A freshly filed patent reveals the company is actively exploring rollable display phones, with two distinct design concepts showing screens that physically roll out to expand.
This is still a patent filing, so do not expect a Samsung rollable phone release date anytime soon. Most patents never become real products. But the fact that Samsung is putting ideas on paper signals the technology is being taken seriously inside the company.
It tracks with Samsung’s history. The Galaxy Fold launched rough, got refined, and eventually turned into the massively popular Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip lineup that helped define the foldable phone market. Samsung clearly has a pattern of wild concept to bestseller.
Rollable display tech has floated around the smartphone space for years without a mainstream hit. If any company can actually pull it off, Samsung has the track record to try.
