Sophie Thatcher is stepping far outside her Yellowjackets comfort zone. The actress is starring in Her Private Hell, a new horror film from director Nicolas Winding Refn, the mind behind Drive and The Neon Demon, marking his first feature in over ten years.
Thatcher described the project as completely unlike anything in her previous work, which makes sense given Refn’s reputation for visually intense, unsettling cinema.
Her Private Hell is distributed by Neon and was spotlighted at the Cannes Film Festival this year during the Fantastic Pavilion, a hub for genre films at the prestigious event. The film was presented alongside digital horror series The Séance, produced by Alex Noyer of You Know Films.
With Refn back behind the camera after a decade away and Thatcher bringing serious genre credibility fresh off Yellowjackets, this is one 2025 horror release that has serious buzz already building.
