Plex Lifetime Pass Just Hit $750 and Users Cannot Handle It

Plex just tripled the price of its Lifetime Pass, and longtime users are furious. Starting July 1 at 12:01 am UTC, the one-time purchase for permanent Plex Media Server access jumped from $250 to $750, a full 200% price increase that nobody asked for.

The Lifetime Plex Pass unlocks the full media server experience, including local network streaming, remote streaming, and the ability to share your server with other users remotely. It is essentially the backbone of what makes Plex worth using for home media setups.

Current Lifetime Pass holders are not affected by the price hike, so if you already bought in, you are safe. But anyone considering it now faces a steep barrier that looks a lot less like a one-time deal and a lot more like pressure to switch to a recurring Plex subscription instead.

At $750, Plex is basically daring you to just subscribe monthly.
