Today’s Wordle broke a lot of people, and honestly? Fair enough.

Puzzle #1797 landed on May 21 with an answer that feels obvious in hindsight but will absolutely have had you burning through guesses like a maniac. The word is a verb, it means to concur with someone or something, it starts with “A,” and it has three vowels plus a repeating letter. If you still can’t get there , the answer is AGREE. You’re welcome.

Yesterday’s answer was WRECK, which is a much more satisfying word to type, but here we are.

Wordle has been running since 2021 and somehow hasn’t lost its grip on millions of people despite being, at its core, a game where you guess a five-letter word six times. The secret is that it costs nothing, takes maybe four minutes, and the daily reset keeps you coming back like it’s some kind of responsibility. It’s not. But you’ll be back tomorrow anyway.

For anyone building a longer-term strategy, mathematician Jonathan Olson has done the actual work so you don’t have to , his top opening words include SALET, RANCE, ALTER, and CRATE. Front-load those vowels and you’re already ahead of most people in your group chat.

If one Wordle a day isn’t scratching the itch, the spin-off market has genuinely gotten out of hand. Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo actually built one , called Weezle , where players decode lyrics from the band’s catalog daily. There’s also a Taylor Swift version called Taylordle for the Swifties who want their parasocial relationship to include puzzle games. Beyond that, you’ve got a battle royale version, a dungeon crawler, and a geography one, plus an adults-only NSFW edition for when you want your word game to make you feel weird about yourself.

The whole thing is free on PC and mobile, which is probably why it never died.

AGREE is the answer, Rivers Cuomo made a word game, and none of us are okay.
